Tribal Treasures Of Odisha: An Interesting Exploration

Tribal Treasures Of Odisha: An Interesting Exploration

With a culture that is easily among the richest in the entire world, India is a land of diverse people with diverse languages, cuisine, festivals and the general way of living. It has many secrets that it hides and shields within its deepest corners. The citizens of India have a high historical significance in terms of their own cultures and conserve a certain amount of artistic brilliance that is unique only to them. Considering all of the states of India, Odisha has the highest number of tribes which is easily as many as 62, comprising about 24% of the total population. Every single one of them has its own lifestyle and culture, independent of that of the others. They live in the eastern ghats and mainly inhabit the hill ranges.

Daily Lifestyle and Everyday Dealings

The tribes of Odisha are acquainted with some of the country’s most incredible forms of art and attract people from all over the world who are interested in buying the same. They have conserved the culture of the state and kept it intact till now, rising against the increasing westernization that is evident throughout the country. The Kondh and Santal tribes are some of the most widespread and largest tribes in Odisha with a population of around 1 million each.

They survive mainly on daily practices of necessity such as agriculture, farming, hunting and gathering and other activities that fall under the subsistence economy and function entirely as beings capable of attaining their needs on the basis of their own efforts as individuals and as a community. Most of the tribes of Odisha are self-sufficient and do not entirely rely on the world to acquire whatever they need to survive.

Art and Culture

Music, arts and dance are among the most prominent activities that engage the tribes in their entirety. Though vastly different from each other in their general way of living in addition to other cultural differences, the tribes of Odisha share a common love for and fondness towards the very existence and significance of art. During festivals, they come together to celebrate life with the means of music and it becomes their highly pleasure inducing pastime.

Dancing is another activity that the people are particularly fond of and takes place during nightfall when its festive time, continuing through the day. The tribes are unique also in terms of their dance forms and just in how they engage with dance as a whole.

Crafts and Other Artisan Skills

While most tribes have means of sustenance that keep them on their toes and self-reliant, many of them also seek the same property of independence of both livelihood and expression in textiles, basket-weaving, tool-making and even various forms of craft such as metal or even plastic. Regular haats are held to celebrate their craft and talent and people fly in from all over the country and even the world to buy these beautifully carved and created items, keeping them as souvenirs of the beautiful state.

Most tribal homes also possess handlooms and each type is distinctly known for its own style and patterns. Some tribes have a specially enchanting way of dealing with the needle while some experiment freely with vegetable dyes which add a flair to the textile, making them stand out from the rest in enhanced ways.

The handloom traditions in Odisha date back to 600 BCE and have survived through the art forms of the tribes of Odisha. Regardless of the inconsistency of time and its constantly changing nature, the people of Odiya have made the most incredible and awe-spiring works of art that have survived generation after generation and are looked at as an inspiration even today. From dhotis, saris and other materials of clothing to other pieces made of silk and cotton, they have churned out a jaw-dropping amount of creations that have left the world astounded time and time again.

Almost every other household in Odisha will have a weaver willing to make you familiar with the very process and intricacies of weaving by going into detail about how silk, cotton and tusseri, among other fabrics, are woven. Countless natives of Odisha are employed in the fields of textile, hand looming and weaving and create wonders every single day by diving into the art form in an intimately phenomenal manner. You will find yourself in awe of the vibrancy that breathes through the visibility of art in the tribal culture of the state, and how it makes itself apparent by openly offering itself to all those that are paying attention to their beauty.

Warmth in Simplicity

Otherwise super hospitable and yet satisfied with the space they take on the social spectrum of the country, the tribes of Odisha are warm and minimal yet wonderfully so. Their dressing and attire, too, is incredibly minimal and very simple in nature except for the colorful jewelry some of them have their people adorn. Most tribal women are caped in ornaments such as anklets, bracelets and bold necklaces stringed together using distinctly colored beads and both men and women tattoo their bodies with symbols that hold cultural and often community based meanings. Their festivals are widespread and celebrated in great pomp and show owing to their genuine will to please the gods.

Eco Retreat in Odisha and Konark acquaints with the works of various tribes distributed all over the state. You are given enough space to reply to and engage with the art and creations of the people and have the chance to buy them too so you can hold onto them as souvenirs of the beautiful state. The eco retreat also allows you to observe them in their natural territory so you can experience their culture on a first hand basis and are often allowed to directly take part in them. While they tend to be protective when it comes to their culture, the tribes of Odisha are open to people who truly want to see them as they are.

Framed by multiple coupled trees, the village of Raghurajpur is one of the most beautiful craft villages in India. It has a heartwarmingly traditional culture of craft making and most villagers invest in the performance in its entirety to ensure it does not stop existing. The works are mostly inspired by the temples and other attractions of the state of Odisha, and have their own stories to tell. Almost every household is covered in art and decorated by craft.

Pipli is another phenomenal village in Odisha that is famous for its applique work, which is essentially carried out by stitching and embroidering different pieces of cloth that are based on the most amazing decorative items such as umbrellas, pouches, wallets, mirrors etc. Take them with you to add a certain twist and change to your homes in the best way possible.

How Ecological Retreats Can Help You Beat Stress and Anxiety

How Ecological And Sustainable Retreats Are The Future Of Tourism Business

Have you found yourself too entranced by the daily worries of life that all you come back to at the end of the day is a bucket full of stress and anxiety? With the constant buzz of zoom, google meet, regular meetings, both offline and online, it is evident that the world is in an endless cycle of stress, which might mean you have found yourself right in the middle of it. You possibly won’t be able to recall the last time you enjoyed yourself fully in your own company, by engaging in activities that make YOU feel good.

Does this all sound too familiar? We know exactly what you need- a good, long, and incredibly refreshing ecological retreat somewhere in the midst of nature, away from the inescapable rush of city life. It is imperative for all of us to take frequent breaks away from this hustle and bustle, so we remind ourselves of the beauty of life in its purest form. After all, what is the purpose of working so hard when you are not able to enjoy yourself?

Ecological retreats are crafted to paint the most beautiful experience for you, and your loved ones. They have the best of food, culture, nature, and art and are planned in accordance with your needs and wants, while also taking into account the environment. Here is how they can help you beat stress and anxiety super easily-

1) By letting you focus on your physical health

Some of the most incredible eco retreats offer a variety of adventure sports to its tourists. The Hirakud eco retreat, based on the bay side of the sand overlooking India’s largest dam- Hirakud, is as majestic as it is relaxing. It is equipped with supremely well-guided treks around the Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary offering you a glimpse into the world of untouched, unkempt wildlife. The treks take you inside the sanctuary, letting your eyes feast on the marvels of nature as you bask it all in. The air is fresh, the trees are green, the sky couldn’t be bluer and life seems as colorful as it could possibly be.

Additionally, the retreat also includes marvelous thrill-seeking activities such as parasailing, banana boat rides, jet skiing etc. They will elevate your concentration and focus level while fully stretching your body, offering an insurmountable level of peace to your mind.

2) Kickstart in ecotherapy

Medications don’t always suit everyone struggling with mental health disorders. A lot of people are looking for a release more than acknowledgement when they think of therapy, while dealing with issues as prominent and serious as stress and anxiety. It affects their daily lives in ways that cannot fully be noticed until brought to conscious attention. Numerous therapists around the world offer ecotherapy as a possible solution to them.

In simple words, ecotherapy is the therapy that consists of all nature-based therapies capable of genuinely offering relaxation and peace to your mind. It gives you enough space to meditate and sit with your own thoughts for a while, without feeling the rapid nature of time or the sudden fear of missing out on the proceedings of your familiar world. Their aim is to bring one’s attention to the absolute beauty of nature, to then positively impact their mental health.

Nature, in itself, is easily the strongest force in the world. It offers a shoulder to people as they look into themselves to see what it is that is going on inside of them. The world we have made for ourselves is not even nearly as calming, wise, empathetic and compassionate as nature. It is chaotic, and revolves on the foundations of technology and modernity. So intense is the race towards them that people have forgotten their very reason to fly in the first place.

Eco retreats let you spend as much time as you need with nature, while providing your basic needs and wants to you so you can use your time productively and with utmost ease and comfort. It is known to give a genuine self-esteem boost to the tourists because they get to disconnect with themselves and just let themselves be.

3) By pulling you away from the world

Sometimes, even being present as a half-time member in the real world, embellished by ‘work work work work and no rest’ being its very own slogan, is the toughest job in the world. As mentioned earlier, it can get overwhelmingly taxing, leaving you with nothing to keep to yourself at the end of the day. If you are living that life right now, you must have noticed how much of a headache it truly is.

Eco retreats, be it in Konark, Hirakud or simply Odisha in general, have every facility available to let you be whoever you want to be, for however long. They have itineraries that are suited to your tastes, and you can always approach every single one of them with extreme passion and enjoyment.

4) You get to explore a new culture altogether!

Odisha is the land of vibrancy, cultural life, authentic landscapes and a close-knit community. It breathes the fresh air of its large forests filled with wildlife, sits on the very thrones of nature and is hydrated by unpolluted rivers that gently trail down its entirety, offering water to all those who find themselves in need of it. Its culture is among the many reasons behind people flocking to it with their families whenever they have vacations or holidays around.

The awespiring state celebrates countless festivals with events that last up to a year sometimes, and fully adores its multiplicity loudly, in different shades of pink and yellow and green. The art style prevalent in the state involves utilitarian functions and is bought by people from all over the world for its sheer uniqueness and difficulty of management

Odishan eco retreats give you space to dive into the cultural life of odisha at its purest, and you get to interact with them in your own capacity. Is that not the best?

Ultimately, the role eco retreats play in managing and even beating stress and anxiety is most certainly high. If you don’t believe us, you should try it for yourself asap!

How Ecological And Sustainable Retreats Are The Future Of Tourism Business

How Ecological And Sustainable Retreats Are The Future Of Tourism Business

Sustainable and ecological retreats are simple getaways that allow you to have the most incredible time ever while establishing a strong relationship with nature. They include activities such as meditation, trekking, yoga, eco-friendly accommodations and dining services and a wide diversity of outdoor activities. Often, such retreats are planned accordingly to also give back to the rural communities, especially with their easy to understand and grasp technology and itineraries. Ecotourism is recently gaining new heights in popularity owing to its sustainable approach to tourism as a whole. Ecological and sustainable retreats present to the tourist an amalgamation of a pure experience crafted in the very middle of nature, acquaintance with wildlife and the availability of the most beautiful sights for enchanting sightseeing, together in one place. Who can possibly be able to avoid that?

From helping you find just the right balance between mental and physical health and aiding its maintenance to also being a blessing to the environment with its eco-friendly methods of interaction with daily life, ecotourism is set to be the future of tourism business!

Here’s why tourists are flocking towards it instead of normal tourism today-

1) You get to familiarize yourself with the place in an authentic manner

Eco retreats allow you to fully immerse yourself in the culture and identity of the place you are going to because it gives you the opportunity and space to fully dive into its environment. You get the chance to interact with the local communities that know the place better than anyone ever could, and you also get to spend time with nature in whatever capacity appeals to you. Owing to this, eco retreats are viewed as deeply profound periods of time spent on one reigniting their connection to nature by being most intimate with it. You also get to learn a lot about the livelihood, history, culture, behavior and specific nature of the location by observing it in a very close proximity.

From trekking and bird watching to tree walking and sightseeing, the abundance of activities that come with ecotourism are planned to aid your final experience.

Most eco retreats are infused with the woody and citrus scent of nature, further elaborated by the way in which they wrap around your soul discreetly. They may lack things such as permanent hot water, central heating, air conditioning, comfortable bedding etc but they strictly follow eco friendly models which only adds on to their charm. However, recently, most eco retreats have every single facility that a normal retreat would, often even more than that. They are as luxurious and comfortable if not more, and their environment friendly nature is just another added bonus!

2) Get some me-time!

What better place to indulge fully in yourself, than on the day when you are on an eco-retreat and have a direct powwow opportunity waiting to be grabbed right in front of you! You can sit down and meditate in the safe palms of nature, as you practice deep breathing and concentration with comfortably cold winds gently picking you up every time you would. Additionally, if you are looking for closure or simply a point of motivation, to keep yourself running, consider also spending some time just simply looking at the picturesque sceneries carefully noticed and admired by only those who are in touch with nature- something that retreats allow you to do!

Most importantly, though, treat them as breaks and engage with life in the most organic way possible. Spend time with yourself, consider discovering yourself even because you have the space to do just that!

3) Therapeutic for your mental health

When you find yourself staring at the most lovely marvels of nature while breathing fresh air, you will feel as relaxed as you have ever felt. Eco retreats offer peace to your mental health while also engaging with your physical health. Most glamping shows are adorned with nourishing food made from the freshest fruits and vegetables available outside and also let you exercise your entire body with free moving exercises. It is cozy, snuggly and also tremendously special to be a part of such a thing. You will find your stress levels decreasing rapidly. Could it ever get any better than that?

4) Reduced carbon footprint

Sustainable retreats are the new trend, popular among the current generation of explorers and travelers, specifically because of the sort of impact they have on the environment, which is as safe and positive as it can possibly be in the world of tourism. They are crafted to ensure that no threat is imposed on the wildlife of the area and have reduced water and electricity usage to cut down on the carbon footprints their overuse can lead to. Additionally, numerous eco hotels and retreats also focus a lot on solar electricity functioning as the foundations of power supply which only utilizes as much power as is given out naturally by the sun.

Tourism has always been a large contributor to climate change in the most negative manner possible considering the amount of toxic waste tourists end up releasing in the places they visit, and the amount of harm they pose to the environment of the place. They also exhaust the resources of that area for their own needs and wants which only has further negative repercussions. Thankfully, eco tourism has made it possible for people to enjoy their vacations to the fullest without it affecting the climate in a largely negative manner. The eco retreat in Odisha is one such glamping event that offers the most luxurious amenities to its guests while also conserving and protecting the beauty and wildlife of the majestic state. It allows people to interact with Odisha’s culture while also understanding the importance of nurturing it. It offers the quintessential escape to its tourists and paints the most enchanting experience possible for them so they are able to bask in the entirety of their stay by being able to enjoy it to its fullest.

6 Reasons For You To Visit Hirakud Glamping Experience

Reasons For You To Visit Hirakud Glamping Experience

Popularly known by the Asia’s longest earthen dam, Hirakud is a majestic city to be in! Filled with an array of adventures and stories, it has multiple sites a typical tourist can swirl around. But for the starters, the prominent one you are sure to hear of is definitely about the dam. It is one site that remains the highlight of the city since forever for localities as well as the visitors. And why not? It is a magnificent iconic masterpiece that has made the country proud by being the biggest artificial lake in Asia.

Apart from the Hirakud Reservoir, there are various attractions that might lure you to extend your stay in the city. From famous temples to comfortable glamping stay, the list gets long for you to plan a trip right away!

Places You Must Not Skip

Ghanteswari Temple, you must be wondering why it was named as Ghanteshwari, it is because of the uncountable bells set all over and around the temple. An amazing thing to be captured over this place would be a confluence spot where several rivers combine with the majestic Mahanadi River. Long ago, it was discovered that the waters could generate whirlpools, it was both hypnotic and heart throbbing, as the powerful waves in this region claimed several vessels and lives. The Hirakud Dam now has rendered the waterways surrounding the temple much more secure.

Budharaja Temple is a place where you can connect to your higher inner self at a spiritual level and get the answers to all of your questions from within. It is a historic Mahadev temple and a famous pilgrimage site. The magic lies in the sculpture of this temple as it is shaped as Budharaja, an incarnation of Lord Shiva. The temple comes alive during Dussehra and Mahashivaratri when worshippers pay their respects to the reigning god.

Huma, the Leaning temple of Lord Shiva is one of the most unique because of how it leans, this one-of-a-kind temple dips 5 to 6 ° to the northeast and the temple complex leans one way, whereas the other temples lean in separate directions. Also, the temple’s edges are angled in a specific way. The different species of fisheries there is an add-on uniqueness of the peaceful shrine.

If you are still not convinced on how mesmerizingly extravagant this place is, here is an elongated list of why you should consider Glamping in your next camping.

Comfort with Ruggednessof Nature OF NATUR

Imagine how sipping on your coffee while laying on a comfy recliner and watching the magical nature would feel like? Amazing, isn’t it? Most folks believe that if you go glamping, you lose the real-life experience of reconnecting with the wilderness, but this is not the case. There are numerous types of glamping experiences, enabling you to enjoy nature as per your wishful desire – a modest tent in the middle of the jungle will not be hindering you from enjoying wildlife, and nor would a shepherd’s hut, which many people enjoy staying in!

There is no comparison to experiencing being in the lapse of wilderness and seeing wildlife. Glamping and being in nature provide a feeling of liberty that the other vacations might not provide, without the bother of pitching tents and being stung to death by flies.

Perfectly Planned Stays

It is a match made in heaven for people who love to explore around as well as are lifestyle conscious. Ignore the tents you will have to snuggle into, the concrete floor you will have to rest on, and the insufficient space to straighten up and stretch out. While glamping in Hirakud Eco Retreat, you can go into that large canvas tent and benefit from the extra space, while still taking in the magnificent scenery that is likely to be in your doorway!

You do not need to stress about zipping into and out of a tent, having to put your boots on to dodge the damp muddy floor, or managing an unacceptable bathroom condition – all of which may be an issue for many and contribute to a stressful day! Instead, you can appreciate your glamping experience by sleeping on a comfy bed, having the freedom to stretch out at all angles, and unwind.

No better argument to embark on a glamping vacation than to simply loosen up? You may walk outside and appreciate nature while sitting in a comfy armchair and having an electrical outlet nearby in case you need to use it. The choice is entirely yours, but having that alternative is advantageous. You will be sorry if you do not have that alternative if you might require it – thus it is always best to be ready and understand there is always a solution for every issue.

Authenticity of Culture

Immersion in a culture is the only way to truly understand it, building up conversations over a little cup of tea with stalls around, getting to know the place from the locals, and familiarizing ourselves with the communities of the area is the best way to feel the place and the emotions of the inhabitants. There are so many tremendous things to do, explore, and discover when glamping, and the range of ways to glamping offer diverse cultural experiences that would inspire you with experiences to last a lifetime.

Consider that instead of staying in a resort or hotel, you could begin your day just steps from a sandy beach, or even somewhere in the mountainous region viewing a tranquil highland lake. Whenever you leave your “bedroom” if you go glamping, you can lose yourself in the wilderness and fully experience the culture and area without forcing yourself into an awkward position.

Cheap Luxury

Glamping as the name suggests is glamorous camping but it is not very glamorous in terms of the cost it bears. People often believe that since glamping is a luxury if compared to regular camping, it would be expensive. While it is genuine that you can pay a lot of money for several glamping places (as you might with any resort you could perhaps stay in relying on place, dimensions, and such), most yurts, tepees, tents, or cottages that you choose will not break your bank, and then you will likely discover them a lot affordable than resorts.

Experince the Stories of the City

The city flooded with various temples and traditions, Hirakud has a repository of stories. Get a deeper connection with people by listening to those local storytellers while enjoying the luxury of glamping. At Eco Retreat Hirakud, connect with majestic nature while being in your comfort.

Need No Expertise

An expert in anything was once a beginner! And glamping for that part does not even need expertise. Camping is hardly as simple as you may think, and can frequently result in a lot of turmoil rather than a pleasant holiday vibe. If you go camping in the wilderness, you may assume that all you require is a tent, snacks, and sleeping bags, but there is a bit more to the experience. Fortunately, if you want to try glamping you do not have to be an expert, and you can have a great time with just a little or no planning.

Keeping your inner child alive is the decode to a happy life! So, always strive to have joy, make some new experiences, giggle out loud, and relish yourselves! Traveling securely to a campsite, glamping site, hotel, or elsewhere may provide the nicest experiences, therefore it is crucial to completely take advantage of these experiences whenever possible.
