All You Need to Know about Staying in An Eco-lodge

All You Need to Know about Staying in An Eco-lodge

Eco means ecological, lodge suggests accommodation. Eco-lodge is a type of tourist accommodation designed to have the minimum possible impact on the natural environment where it has been built. They are crafted particularly for the people who travel and stay away from home for more than a day and thus, need a proper lodging for sleep, rest, food, safety, shelter from cold temperatures or rain, storage of luggage and access to common household functions. Lodge is a form of the sharing economy. Eco Lodge accommodation must meet the three basic principles of ecotourism, namely; be based in a natural environment; benefit the local population; provide awareness education programs, and most importantly, be environmentally friendly.

With more and more lodgings adopting green habitats in their natural form, you have an unlimited amount of available options to choose from around the globe. Being the home to almost all physical divisions like numerous mountains, beautiful rivers, lakes, deserts, islands, and oceans our country promises numerous such destinations. Via green cottages, eco-hotels, eco-friendly hostels, or homestays, sustainable lodging offers rapid growth and is a boon for the tourism sector.

Eco-lodges have often been associated with eco-travel.

The principle of ecotourism is to operate a tourism business in a manner that a reasonable share of the benefit remains in the local hosting community while reducing the environmental impact and providing a more rewarding nature-based experience for the visitor. Ecotourism is strongly linked to the conservation and understanding of natural areas, which distinguishes it from the more globally known concept of sustainable travel. An eco-lodge is therefore ideal for travelers who want to experience nature while supporting eco-tourism and having a decreased carbon footprint when they venture out freely to connect with the world more intimately.

Origin

Originating in Africa, the lodge, also known as safari lodge, was a traveler’s abode constructed with wood or canvas built in the middle of an animal reserve or natural park. It is the association between this style of housing as such and its harboring on conserved sites that led to the interest of adding the particle eco for ecology to the world lodge. The term was added in the 1990s and was described as a habitat that differs from others in the way it has been built or operated.

Attributes of an Eco-Lodge

It is located in a natural or rural area within a short distance of a natural area. It is unkempt and unaffected by urban development and is usually located far away from traffic noise, smog or even pollution. You can sleep under a clear sky shining with trillions of stars twinkling at night. It preserves the local flora and fauna and gives you a truly serene experience.

It uses systems that protect the environment from pollution and degradation and makes use of energy-saving systems and possibly renewable energy technologies. It has access to nature interpretation guides who have excellent local knowledge of the natural habitat.

It also provides books, posters, maps, photographs, orientation presentations or other means of informing guests and visitors about the region and other close spots. It also helps to educate guests, staff and visitors about the importance and value of a healthy ecosystem and describes how best to enjoy the area without affecting it. Eco-lodges offer a safe space and teach you how to maintain that safety.

The most important attribute of these eco-lodges is to contribute to the local economy and helps to demonstrate that ecotourism is a more sustainable way to earn income in the long term than destroying or modifying habitats for short term gains.

Eco Lodges in Odisha

India, known for its architectural and colorful culture, is home to 7% of the world’s biodiversity. From simple eco-lodges to high-end sustainable luxury resorts that cater to every need of the tourists, it is gradually putting its best foot forward in the tourism world. These are not simply places that have actively put measures in place to minimize their environmental impact, use renewable energy sources, and are directly benefiting local communities too.  Picture stunning clear blue water, a spread of indulgent local and continental cuisines, warm hospitality, and strict security- that is what makes these eco-retreats popular with thousands of tourists. A serene drive to the pristine Ramchandi Beach leads you to the gates of the Eco Retreat plush with nearly 60 tents for a luxurious water sports experience. The perfect escape from the daily humdrum. Konark is one of the seven main locations which offer entertainment options, heritage site visits, and good food.

You can choose from up to four different types of tents namely the Deluxe, Premium, Royal, and Presidential. All tents are fully equipped with stellar basics to ensure a stay as comfortable as it gets. The price structure is created to include 3 meals and refreshments for 2 people. It also has 1 Water sport activity, parking in the evening cultural entertainment, as well as a guided tour to different destinations.

Living in Eco-Lodge

On arrival, what will immediately catch your attention is the unfailing sincere hospitality. That is once you manage to tear your attention from the gorgeous view of the surroundings. The colors and the pattern of the tents reflect traditional Odiya culture, in its entire glory, making for an extremely beautiful selfie backdrop too. The first Eco retreat at Konark to be led by E-factor Experiences Ltd. was no mean feat to pull off. Especially if it involved semi-permanent construction to erect 58 tents of different sizes featuring different amenities and ensured a quality of stay normally associated with metropolitan cities on the beaches of Odisha. Entertainment aside, the Eco Retreat also offers residents a guided trip to the Konark Sun Temple. A leisurely drive along the Puri-Konark Marine drive leads the way to explore the majesty of the heritage monument Konark Temple. The guide himself is an enthusiastic person to say the least and bursting with plenty of interesting stories. With large parts up for restoration, it’s a testament to the glory of the place still continuing to attract people in number.

All of the lounging, dining and adventure aside, it’s the water sport at the Eco retreat that interests the tourists. From Jet skiing, parasailing with rather raucous dips, speedboats to rides on ATVs there’s enough to keep the adrenaline pumping. There’s a Chai bar for people who like tea breaks to chit chat. There are shaded low and high decks all across the property for large groups of people to party or play together. The rooms are state-of-the-art and the people are left feeling very delighted. All on this idyllic beach in Odisha every year for 90 days at the Eco Retreat, Konark. There are several destinations in Odisha which are providing similar experiences to the tourists.

Framed by multiple coupled trees, the village of Raghurajpur is one of the most beautiful craft villages in India. It has a heartwarmingly traditional culture of craft making and most villagers invest in the performance in its entirety to ensure it does not stop existing. The works are mostly inspired by the temples and other attractions of the state of Odisha, and have their own stories to tell. Almost every household is covered in art and decorated by craft.

An Ultimate Cold Weather Weekend Bucket List

An Ultimate Cold Weather Weekend Bucket List

Amidst the hustle and bustle of our busy schedule, daily city life does not provide us any solace or peace. Everyone wants to take a small break from their mundane jobs and find themselves looking forward to holidays or days or two weekly offs to rejuvenate themselves in a holistic manner. For this reason alone, coming with promises of a refreshing break, weekends excite us in different ways. For some, binging on old movies confided in the comfort of their houses is a top activity on their bucket list, few zoom out to discos with their friends for entertainment but the diehard travelers want to explore, regardless of the amount of time they have on their hands. We all have that traveler in us who wishes to always reach out to new places and explore new dimensions and physical zones of different parts of the world.

Interestingly, the winter season brings out the best of our appetites. With the smoothness of the cold breeze, pleasure encourages us to pursue it near a sea coast, listening to the melodious water waves or some devotional songs sung by the priest in some local tiny temple in an unknown destination. We know these experiences will remain etched in our memory lane for quite a long time. There is an old saying that says you must never underestimate the knowledge of an explorer. The long coastline of Odisha boasts of its rich traditions, awe-inspiring art heritage, ancient temples, pristine beaches, and century-old tribal cultures. With more than 2000 years old history, Odisha reveals a blend of historical and cultural ancestry.

Winters in Odisha

It is in the cold season that everyone, from easterners to travelers, across the globe, finds their way to the gentle coziness and refuge that Odisha offers. The winter season in Odisha lasts from October to March. The weather becomes colder with temperatures falling down to 7 degrees Celsius or even 3 to 4 degrees in various parts. The enchanting nature of Odisha’s aged construction is clearly visible during this season. The experience becomes more delightful with the cold breeze gently caressing your skin as you discover the place in its entirety. Odisha has a long coastal stretch line backed with the most untouched beaches, lakes and waterfalls, rare and unique wildlife, national parks and sanctuaries, temples, monuments, beautiful countryside, and the most popular pilgrimage spots of the country. Even the hill stations here are splendid and breathtaking. Clearly, winter is a delight in the state and must be enjoyed fully.

The making of a bucket list

Wintertime in Odisha brings great opportunities for travelers to set on a sightseeing tour to places like Puri, Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack, and more. Travelers can make a weekend bucket list to decide whether they want to touch down as many beaches, go for a jungle safari, sit and meditate in the temples or just relax and calm themselves down after a hectic week by picnicking near the waterfall. Many prefer to just listen to the beautiful rivers’ melodious sounds and think about life’s easy-flowing nature.

-Ecological places

Odisha presents varied kinds of attractions suitable for winter. A ramble along these beaches or just an evening short trip to namely Rushikulya beach, Puri beach, Chandipur Beach, Astaranga Beach, and Ramchandi Beach can shower you with a peaceful and calm mind. You can also visit other sites like Dhauli, Buddhist sites, Chilika Lake the largest lagoon in India popular for its wide range of ecosystems, and Nandankanan Zoo. Nalabana Bird Sanctuary serves as a homeland to a vast ecosystem, the fusion of sweet river water, and salty seawater provides the perfect home for diverse aquatic life and birds.

-Hill Stations

You can also plan your weekends to visit magnificent hill stations namely Daringbadi, Taptapani, Olasuni hill, Dhenkanal among a few. You can enjoy the pleasant weather devouring local food, gathering information about the place and buying its souvenirs from local people can be exciting. You can also simply just walk along the coast, watch the waves turn over, and feel one with yourself.

-Festivals!!

Apart from these sightseeing destinations, there are many famous festivals of Odisha like the International Sand Art Festival, Konark Festival, Odissi Music Festival, and Mukteshwar Dance Festival are also celebrated during this time of the year. You can have the flavor of Odissi culture added to your bucket list and it can be a great idea for a blissful weekend. These festivals allow you to engage with Odisha as a whole in its entirety, fueling your personal connection with the place.

Know Odisha more wholesomely through glamping Eco Retreats

This year, you can also enjoy the opportunity to experience Odisha’s Eco Retreat, a luxury tourism product organized at various locations of Odisha, having been inaugurated by the Chief Minister of the state, Naveen Patnaik, on the 1st of Dec. Perfect for a weekend trip, visitors here can be treated to recreational activities, cultural performances, guided tours to the nearby destinations of nature, culture, historic and architectural importance. Other recreational activities including adrenaline-inducing water sports, ATV rides, beach volleyball, archery, and much more are also offered and one can dive into them without prior experience, under the guidance of experienced professionals and adequate safety measures. It is, needless to say, an out-of-the-world experience.

Give life to your bucket list!

Travelers can use travel as a commendable stress buster to learn the vibrant culture of Odisha. On the exterior, traveling has a very surface-level appearance. People assume it simply involves visiting new places, capturing photographs, and doing fun activities but actually, if looked into in great depth, traveling is a lot more than that. It helps in self-development, making new friends, and refreshing one’s mind and it also brings about innovative ideas. However, more importantly, it brings transformation. The holistic development brought by traveling can never be achieved sitting at home. It is an investment that equips the person with practical knowledge. Traveling also keeps away stress, depression, and anxiety. It provides a new perspective to a person. Overall, traveling broadens the horizon of a person. For some History is boring to study, but when you get to see those beautiful monuments, ancient temples, and artifacts and listen to the sound of a clear river, it becomes easier to remember the stories associated with them. Traveling also strengthens relationships and builds compatibility. People understand each other in a better way and grow with each other.

Thus, whenever you have free time on your hands, put yourself out there and give reality to the bucket list you have been working on for a long time now. Odisha is an incredible place to start!

Framed by multiple coupled trees, the village of Raghurajpur is one of the most beautiful craft villages in India. It has a heartwarmingly traditional culture of craft making and most villagers invest in the performance in its entirety to ensure it does not stop existing. Located on the very laps of nature, Konark is Odisha’s most beloved place to visit and is covered in the prettiest shades of life. It is home to not only nature at its supreme but also to the most picturesque beaches and multicolored skies.

The Konark eco retreat is an experience of its own. With its multi cuisine specialities, openness to the wild, closeness to nature and a collection of the most soul-winning elements of nature, the eco retreat is subtly dipped in luxury and perfumed with comfort to make you live a lavish dream that you had only visioned for yourself in a limited percentage. It is located alongside the Ramchandi beach and is perfectly equipped with 60 plush tents for a truly luxurious and holistic glamping experience.

Layout of the retreat

The eco retreat is planned to be visually aesthetic and relaxing so you can truly come undone and let yourself go in the warming and snuggly beauty of the place. You can choose from 4 types of tents namely Deluxe, Premium, Royal and Presidential. The cost of the retreat includes meals and refreshments for 2 people, a water sports activity that you can collectively explore and an expertly guided tour to the famous Sun temple that traces its roots in history. The guides that are chosen for this particular task are always brimming with the tales of history and would love to engage with you on discussions of the same if you find yourself with questions that you want answered. They are knowledgeable and more than eager to share that knowledge with the world at large. The entire place is loaded with directional signs to ensure you do not lose your way and find yourself in the right place at the right time. Guards are placed at regular intervals to swiftly engage with your doubts or concerns if you have any.

There is a specific region for water sports activities and a separate residence area. You can find food, drinks and other refreshments in the reception area. Once you get there, you will be greeted with warm and incredibly sincere hospitality and your worries will cease to exist immediately after that.

Genuine relaxation enhanced by stellar aesthetics

A dream come true made possible by the Department of Tourism of the Government of Odisha, the glamping event offers a multitudinal array of options and opportunities to its tourists. The tents are painted in the various colorful shades of Odisha and are intricately put together to act as a reflection of the cultural aesthetic of the state itself. You can get the most incredible pictures clicked with the tents serving as your background, while you smile your widest smile and truly find yourself having the time of your life.

Being surrounded by vibrant colors will also automatically act as a mood-booster, thus calming you down in your entirety as you let yourself get charmed by the phenomenal, almost postcard-like views that are put together just for the glory and appraisal of your vision.

Yummiest dishes that will leave you drooling… literally!

Konark eco retreat has India’s most talented chefs ever who are led by Chef Kshitij, a known name in the culinary world for his years of experience in the field and natural talent towards the assortment of flavors that he so easily creates. You can try out the natural and authentically delicious Odiya cuisine which has more focus on the individual flavors of its ingredients than on spice and oil, or Asian, Indian and other special cuisines that vary according to the days. Personally, we would highly recommend that you try out the Odiya cuisine first, instead of tasting the dishes you are already familiar with, to truly complete your experience of the place. The chefs also carry out outdoor grilling events sometimes and come up with the most scrumptious meals laden with a wide variety of seafood. If you are non-vegetarian but have not had the opportunity to try out seafood just yet, this is your chance. Odiya seafood is unlike any other and is widely loved as a result of the same. In fact, many people come to Odisha just to have its cuisine, prepared authentically on Odiyan soil.

Soul-Stealing, Heart-Warming, Wonder-filling Events

After you have tried out the water sports activities to get your thrills checked, and embarked on expansive rides serving heaven to your taste buds, you can come back to life and slowly chill and relax in the evenings with the events that are planned especially for you. Eco retreat Konark is exceptionally particular about its cultural events which are set together in a specific manner to present to you a tiny taste of the wonderful vibrancy that breathes in the very culture of Odisha.

Laden with fire dances that will catch you holding your breath in slight fear and increasing awe, traditional dance forms that will successfully lift you off your feet as you cave in to them and let go, thrilling acts of daring and melodious performances of music to warm your hearts and offer peace to your ears, the planned events will win you over and over again.

There is no place better than the truly majestic glamping show that is Eco Retreat Konark. If you are looking for a corporate event to offer solace to your colleagues or officials, this should be your go-to option. Not only will it truly let them unpack and have a gala time that they will cherish for years and years to come, but it will also substantially increase their levels of productivity which will directly show in the quality of work they produce afterwards. It is the best break and gift anyone could ever be offered.
