Konark is a cultural, quaint town in the state of Odisha and lies on the bay of Bengal, near Bhubaneswar. It has a rich history and shows remnants of the Kalinga architecture even today, with its Sun Temple being the most pristine and popularly visited example. 1) Swargadwar Beach, Puri

You can simply walk away in the mornings or bathe in the oceans of Swargadwar and spend the evenings window shopping or buying authentic things from the beach to have an extra dose of beach side fun in Odisha. However, swargadwar, with swarg meaning ‘heaven’ and dwar meaning ‘gateway’, also means the gateway to heaven and is the cremation ground of hindus. Hindus believe that anyone cremated here will be liberated and go to heaven directly and devotees can watch the rites from a respectful distance to offer their prayers as well.

2) Ramachandi Beach

Located in the Puri district of Odisha, Ramachandi beach is only 15-20 minutes away from the famous and historically regarded sun temple in Konark. The beach is dotted with palm trees and beautiful canopy houses and offers a variety of activities such as jet-skiing, diving, water scooter, kayaking. You can also go for seashell collection to spend some warm and cozy time on the beach. There is also a festival called Ramachandi that is organized and celebrated by the tourism department of Odisha.

3) Astaranga Beach

Astaranga means colorful sunset, and is named after a quaint village in the Puri district of Odisha. It is known for its picturesque views, which comes literally from its name. It has the most beautiful natural scenes that you will find yourself experiencing and the sky looks absolutely magical at all times of the day and is a true marvel for your vision. Astaranga is a fishing village owing to which it has a fish market that is set up on the beaches every morning. You can purchase different varieties of fishes from the market and will find an insane amount of options.

Furthermore, you can also watch the nesting and hatching of Olive Ridley turtles. They nest there and can be seen crawling on the sand in large numbers. It is genuinely the cutest thing ever.

4) Golden Beach

The golden beach is a calm, laid back beach in the districts of Puri. It is away from the daily bustle of the state of Odisha and is beautifully touched by and colored in the hues of gold. It is an untouched place of beauty and has only the crashing waves of the ocean to give you company while you spend some time with your own thoughts. It is also close to the Jagannath temple and is thus quite popular among pilgrims who pay it a visit to offer their prayers to lord Jagannath. Owing to its lack of visibility, it is relatively clean and thus comforting. 

5) Baleswar Beach

Baleswar is an administrative district of Odisha and lies somewhere near the northside of the state. The Baleswar beach, also known as the Chandipur beach, in particular is the perfect place for a getaway with friends or family and is popular for its absolutely mesmerizing sunsets that will leave your mouth wide open in awe. The beach also has an ancient Shaivite temple that is incredibly important for and popular among Shiva devotees. It is ecologically rich and you can also find a great amount of crabs, molluscs and crustaceans on it.

6) Chandrabhaga Beach

It is one of the most beautiful and pollution free beaches of the country, and is cleaner than other beaches. In fact, it is so crystal clear that it has received various cleanliness awards. It is wonderfully lined with the tallest trees and the most golden sands which makes it a true sight to behold. A lot of cultural events and festivals are held here and attract a whole lot of attention from the public. The beach usually has a very pleasant climate throughout the entirety of the year but is most likely visited when the Konark International Sand Art Festival is held.

Besides the festival, however, it is usually a lovely place for pictures and should definitely be visited whenever possible.
